I would like to introduce students to my Reading Roar Intervention Cart! The Reading Roar Intervention Cart will enable struggling students to let it ROAR as they sound and say words! This intervention cart is targeted at strengthening K-3 students that are struggling with sight words and phonemic awareness skills! I want to instill in every student the desire to participate in their intervention. This project will incorporate phonics books by Orton Gillingham, and Susan Muscovitch, along with manipulatives from Lakeshore Learning to form strong foundational reading skills for all students, including English Language Learners. I have included a resource to modify my teaching strategies for struggling readers. I am also requesting a cart, laminator, pouches, and copy paper to create phonics materials on my own. The Reading Roar Intervention Cart will support students in achieving mastery of the following Nevada Academic Academic Content Standards in Literacy: Print Concepts: RF.K.a-d, RF. 1.a. Phonological Awareness: RF.K.a-e, RF.1.a-d Phonics and Word Recognition: RF.K.3a-d, RF.1.3.a-g, RF.2.3.a-f, RF.3.3.a-d This Reading Roar Cart can be the gentle push here and there that can guide our students to see the joy in reading. It will make their day “roar with reading!”
