So often over the years, my students have struggled with learning and concentration because their bodies weren't and aren't nourished with healthy foods and/or proper meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've seen them bring in unhealthy items for their lunch (candy, soda, etc.). I've seen them in tears because they've missed breakfast, were hungry and completely unready to learn. Often, they didn't have a proper dinner the night before, as well. Because of this, I've always tried to have snacks available to them. This year our students will be eating lunch even later due to a schedule change because of a shortage of bus drivers. My six year-old students have to wait until 1:20 to eat lunch. I see how excited and fulfilled they are when I can offer them a snack in the mornings. I appreciate your support in helping them have this excitement throughout the day as needed.
