These wobble seats will help students stay focused in any subject area and any content standards. Specifically SEL standards (compentencies) self-management, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making. This specific group of second graders are special because they have yet to spend a school year in a typical non-covid classroom. They have perservered through and endless amount of restrictions, exclusions and changes to their school environment. The group of 2nd graders I have this year, are the "Covid" kindergartners and I want to bring joy and excitment back to the classroom environment. They have yet to participate in a "normal" school year. Many of the students are struggling to behave, particpate, and feel comfortable in a typical classroom setting. Some of the behaviors I am witnessing are the inability to sit still in a classroom chair while social distancing, attend to the teacher for long periods of time, be able to self-regulate thier emotions and work cooperatively in a covid restricted classroom.
