Empower my students by giving them the choice of seating and learning materials. Being asked to sit in a regular chair and table can present a huge challenge for students on the Autism Spectrum. This obstacle can push students into episodes of anxiety and anger, which can only further impede their learning. Flexible seating with these bouncing ball seats can allow students a choice for comfort, a choice for them. Furthermore, simple materials such as pencils and paper can be beyond frustrating for students do not learn with this type of medium. Manipulatives for letters and numbers can open doors for learning and allow students to access a holistic understanding.
