Most of the sewing machines at school are old and either don't work properly or don't work at all. My students need to learn both hand sewing and machine sewing skills. A few new sewing machines will help more of my students learn machine sewing, as fewer of them will have to share the same old barely working machines in the classroom. The Hand Warmer Heart Community Service Project was a big hit with all of my classes. When we were all learning from home last year, I had to change the projects to all hand sewing projects and our community service element of the class was not allowed. This year as we are back in the classroom, I hope to be able to teach machine sewing skills again.
