Hi! I am an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in a small suburb in Arizona. The 8th grade team and I are raising funds to purchase a classroom literature set of the novel “Unbroken” for our 8th grade Language Arts classroom. Our goal is to make this novel a part of a cross-curricular unit, which focuses on WWII. All funding will go towards the purchase of a class set of the novel “Unbroken.” We would like to purchase the novels before the 23rd of December, so that we can start the novel upon return from winter break. Reading this book and hearing its message would be so powerful for my students. They will learn about the inspiring story of Louis Zamperini and his struggle to survive while being held captive as a prisoner of war during WWII. His story will remind students the importance of character and to fight and never give up despite the obstacles we face. This would also give students the ability to make deeper connections to their studies of WWII history in Social Studies class. My current 8th grade students, and those I will have in the future, will appreciate these novels for years to come. Thank you so much for helping these amazing young minds.
