I teach in an Intensive Learning Center (ILC) classroom for students with diverse learning needs. Our students work hard every day to grow academically, socially, and independently. In our classroom, learning looks different for every student. Some students communicate using words, pictures, gestures, signs, or AAC devices. Others need hands-on materials, visual supports, sensory tools, repeated practice, and individualized instruction to help them access learning and show what they know. Our goal is to create a welcoming and supportive classroom where every student feels successful, included, and valued. Our students bring so much personality, determination, and joy to our classroom. With the right materials and supports, they are able to participate more independently and make meaningful progress each day.
