In order to support students, I must first build connections and trust. Through the use of games, diverse book sets, and activities I will be able to build relationships with students which will allow me to support them emotionally in their day-to-day lives. Following the last year and a half, students both crave relationships and struggle to attain them. My role at the school is to make sure every student is able to identify a peer they consider a friend, an adult they trust, and make sure they have the coping skills they need to focus in class. A student cannot learn unless their basic needs of food, support, and safety are being met. Through your support, I can be the landing place for students who are still building the skills they need to be successful in the classroom.
