When students are struggling to regulate their emotions, behaviors often interfere with the learning for themselves and others. Intentionally teaching students how to cope when they are feeling angry/frustrated/upset helps access other areas of the brain, making it possible for higher-order thinking to occur. When students come to school from broken families, witnessing trauma at home, currently possessing limited strategies to work through these emotions, learning is their last priority. It is my goal to help them sift through their emotions in a productive manner, allowing them access to academic content.

About my class
