With these materials, students will be able to see different habitats in action, supporting live insects and reptiles. We already have three hissing cockroaches that teach the students about decomposers, and they love it! With the requested materials, the cockroaches would have a bigger home to show off more natural behaviors and offer another way for students to calm themselves. We'd also be able to add a desert habitat animal -- a leopard gecko -- to the classroom for a similar effect! These resources will let students experience wild animals and habitats hands-on -- a first for many of them. Students would also be able to build and design their own habitats to really drive home the science ideas they're learning every year. They'll be able to build, decorate, and explain their very own tiny ecosystems with clay, paint, and boxes. This integration with the arts is what makes our school really stand out, but time and resources are scarce when it comes to science planning. With your help, we can make this happen for our students!
