Our students are very talented, strong-willed, and curious, with an incredible sense of humor and street smarts. This is in contrast to the difficult lives many of them face outside of school. As a Title 1 school, almost all of our students come from low-incomes and many live in temporary housing. I am the only art teacher, and it is my job to develop their creativity and provide a space where students can express themselves. Unfortunately, many of them lack the confidence needed to reach their full potential. Your gifts will help these students find their creative voice and develop confidence through art-making. Our students possess an abundance of talent in many forms (visual art, dance, music, etc). I love introducing students to new art materials and modes of expression.
