I am requesting a subscription to Scholastic News which provides current event information to students in a way that is "kid friendly". Nonfiction literature is vital to success in school, and Scholastic News is a resource students find engaging, enjoyable and memorable. The magazine provides resources that are current, relevant and fascinating. It keeps second graders interested, which creates a greater understanding and mastery of the text. Many of the articles and resources can be expanded to areas such as research, art, social studies, and of course, meaningful discussions. The magazine's articles and layout make it easy to teach strategies for vocabulary and nonfiction comprehension.
