These materials are key parts to any STEM and science curriculum. Every week my students focus on solving real-world problems and their critical thinking skills. We work in teams to put our science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills to the test by creating models. Seemingly basic supplies such as Popsicle sticks and modeling clay can lead students towards creating great things. The best learning happens when students are actively engaged and taking a hands-on approach to the material. Utilizing dry erase pockets, highlighters, and play-dough allows students to write along with me, fidget, and even feel more confident making mistakes.
