My students in Room 8 need positive reinforcements to help encourage them to try their best on their work. When they are feeling discouraged and defeated we remind them that what they have already done is good enough and that they are so smart for trying. All students are rewarded with what we have in our class known as Fun Cash. Once they have accomplished a goal, an assignment, or we see them acting as a role model and working hard they will receive a Fun Cash which represents 1$. At the end of the week they have the option to spend their Fun Cash that they have earned to buy a prize or they will save it to buy a big prize the following week. This teaches the students that their hard work is rewarded and does not go unnoticed.
All prizes in our prize box help our students stay focused as they can keep them in their desk and fidget with a prize when they feel anxious. They can also take them home and fidget with them when they can not concentrate on their homework and feel defeated.
