I am requesting Nutri-Grain bars for morning snacks, chips and crackers for afternoon snacks. I am a school counselor so my office is looked at as having everything from something to eat, clothes, and school supplies. I have asked for snacks because it is very expensive to try to fund by myself, however, 100% of the students at our school qualify to receive free lunch which means many of them come from lower social-economical homes. For some of our students, the breakfast and lunch that is provided for them here at school is the only food they will have throughout the day. I know that it is very hard to concentrate on your work in class when your stomach is growling and all you can think about is food. I would like to provide my students with something to hold them over so that they primed and ready to learn in their classes. I'm also going to be very honest, having snacks in my room is also a way to draw students to me so that we can create bonds and build relationships. When they come to my room asking for items it gives me an opportunity to check in with them, see how their day is going and how their classes are coming along.
