Inspired by the book My Incredible Talking Body, my personal wellness journey through the past year and a half, and the common chronic distresses I see in so many of my students, this project’s aim is to help my learners discover how their bodies work from the inside out. This exploration will be paired with practice communicating with others about pain, distress and needs. My students are visual learners with a need for hands-on materials that will help them engage and make the connection to their own bodies, sensations and experiences. The current needs and capabilities of my students are a vast spectrum from learning to communicate that they are hungry to having the interest in but not the vocabulary to explore systems of the body. I also see this project as an amazing opportunity to highlight all that unifies us as humans regardless of our external difference.
