The most exciting part of our drama experience is how much our students benefit from the reading they do. They are having so much fun reading scripts and lyrics, they don't even realize how much reading they are doing. Our partcipants have consistently shown improvement in their reading scores, attendance, and have had fewer behavior referrals! They see themselves as role models and really shine both academically and behaviorally. One girl who was particularly shy in 4th grade sent an email this year telling me how excited she was, because she was going to try out for the middle school Shakespeare play!! These costumes will help my students feel like they are "really actors" as one of them stated at our rehearsal the other day.
