My students have developed a love of Space. Our school wont be doing field trips this year due to COVID-19 and funding issues. They have all expressed interest in actually seeing the planets and stars we have been discussing in class. My mission as their Science teacher is to show them something new and mind-blowing every single day, and I usually succeed, but they are still in disbelief. Their is only so much I can show them via videos, or simulations and models. They want to explore and see for themselves! Giving them the opportunity to view celestial objects via telescope will not only encourage them on their quest or knowledge but solidify and provide proof of many of the phenomena we have discussed in class. Telescopes will help them feel more like the STEAM scientists they envision themselves being in the near future!
