These materials will be used by students ranging in age from kindergarten through 21 years through our special education school in Poughkeepsie. Many students are autistic and non verbal and struggle with fine motor skills. I believe in the transformative power of art which allows an individual to become more than they once were and I aim to provide sensory experiences whether through touch or sight with these art materials. I believe the spin art machine would help students who cannot grasp supplies in their hands to make authentic and unique art that goes beyond a craft experience. The textured foam would be both soothing and stimulating to many of my students while the paint dot markers will allow those who can’t grip fine motor tools to make authentic marks.
