The school where I teach used to house a kindergarten school, so many art materials are geared for younger elementary students. My goal is to provide developmentally appropriate drawing and printmaking materials for my 2nd through 6th-grade students!
Drawing, printmaking, and sculpture are staples in most art room experiences. However, due to lack of appropriate materials, my 2nd through 6th-grade students have not been able to experience using drawing pencils or any printmaking methods to make art. The students will use these materials for numerous projects throughout the school year in various capacities. Drawing pencils are essential for teaching students how to add value to their drawings. The brayers, inking plates, and printing blocks are durable and will be reused for many years, allowing current and future students to experience printmaking. Students will use the different types of wire to explore wire sculpting. Extra paper is always a must, as this resource is used in virtually all forms of art projects! With these materials, students will have access to create many wonderful works of art!
