I want to give my students the gift of empathy and there is no better avenue toward cultivating empathy towards others than to read about their experiences. Reading helps us travel the world and look through many windows into the amazing and inspiring lives of others; to share the feelings of happiness, sadness, joy, fear, and excitements about those we read about. My students are natural readers and love spending time in our cozy library. I want to give them options to explore their interests and continue to nurture their love of reading all year. As a new teacher my resources have been scarce and I am so thankful for this opportunity to advocate for my students' education.
