Many of our Civil War Museum artifacts in our town were scheduled to be removed and relocated to another city, to help preserve and protect them while the building that they were originally housed in was up for renovation and repairs. Citizens in our small town were unsure which museum artifacts were being relocated and which items were staying, so my students created this project to help with the documentation process and to keep everyone informed about museum artifact placement. My students have partnered with our local Heritage Museum and they will be using the Canon DSLr Camera, the tripod, and the photo studio lightbox and accessories to photograph each item in the museum. They will then interview museum curators, along with townspeople who donated each item, and they will write a biographical description of each artifact. Photos and artifact descriptions will be placed into our coffee table picture book, described below. For their finished product, students will create a Heritage Museum Artifact Coffee Table picture book, that will contain a photo of every artifact, along with a biography of its unique history and how it contributed to our town. Coffee Table books will be printed and placed into our Junior High Library; in the Heritage Museum; in our town Library; and an online link will be available for any and all who would like it. Students over the years will update the digital link and add more photographs to their "living coffee table book" as more items are donated to the Heritage Museum. Once the major part of our project is finished, my class will donate the Canon DSLR Camera to our Junior High School so it can be used daily to document the awesome achievements of our faculty and staff.
