At PACE Academy it is important for the students to get as much focused instructional time as possible. This school was built to cater to students with specific learning disabilities while focusing on closing the learning gap through reading. These are students with dyslexia as well as other focus needs. These flexible seating options will allow students the choice to move throughout the classroom as they see fit for their learning. These seating options will also allow me greater chances to keep my students spread out and safe while learning within the classroom. I plan to measure out appropriate spacings throughout the classroom and mark them so students have clear boundaries of where they can sit throughout the classroom. Seating options will be selected by the students at the beginning of the day where they will use the seating options at a pre-marked location around the room to complete their school work for the day. Flexible seating allows for more effective classroom management and a great teaching opportunity for my students to become advocates for their own learning while selecting smart choices for themselves. I believe that student choice in the classroom is very important in the classroom for building responsible independent citizens.
