These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with an engaging text that they can fall in love with. Hearing students get excited about reading, specifically those that struggle is a continual hope for my students. Students need books that they can relate to and are culturally relevant. This text would allow students to access historical fiction in a culturally relevant way, that both challenges and interests to help students reach grade level standards. It is difficult to find books that match student interest and are also relevant and engaging. This class set would help sustain student interest, as well as provide challenge and rigor.
