The materials that I am requesting will be used to adequately equip my students for success. The basic school supplies, that every student should have access to, will be provided in my classroom. My students come from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds and supplies that are listed are not as accessible for them. In my classroom, I actively encourage students to make annotations when reading a new piece of text and in teaching text taking skills. As a result, having a variety of distinct writing utensils becomes crucial to the learning process of reading, writing, and speaking. Using each of these methods is the fundamental basics of learning along hearing, listening, seeing, and doing. The basic school supplies such as highlighters, pencils, pens, and sticky notes will be used to provide immediate access. Students will be able to complete assignments without having to worry about the accessibility of the materials. Moreover, students will have access to supplies to assist with cleanliness (Clorox wipes), and organization (shelving their student workbooks). Please assist me with bringing these materials to my students; so that I may continue to teach skills that they may not only apply in the classroom but also outside of the classroom. No student, regardless of background or culture, should be placed at a disadvantage, because my classroom teaches students how to think and not what to think. Mediocrity or failure is never an option!
