These books will be used in Social Studies and Writing as a way to learn about diverse people in the world. I want my first graders to be able to read then write about the people they read about in these books. I want my student(s) to know that "ordinary" and "diverse" people make a difference in the world, and like them, they can make a difference as well. These books are great for early readers and are great subjects for students to discuss. They are just one book away from broadening their horizons.
