The ability to be mobile in a discovery based mathematics classroom is essential. Being tied to the front of the room where my document camera is severely limits my ability to spend equal time helping each group. This prevents academic conversation from happening frequently, thereby limiting the depth of knowledge and understanding that my students get in math class. By funding this project, my students will gain a deeper understanding of the mathematical concepts covered in my curriculum. I will be able to teach fluidly from anywhere in my classroom, therefore accessing all student groups frequently throughout the class. I will also be able to easily share student work from their seat- a place that feels much more comfortable to them than the front of the room at the document camera. By being able to project student work from anywhere with the multiple cameras on my lightweight iPad, I will be able to involve more students in sharing work which will deepen their education and provide more perspectives for the rest of the students in my class. Overall, this project will help me be a more mobile teacher and help me teach effectively from anywhere in my room.
