An area rug serves many purposes in a classroom. Space, distance and area are very important in helping my students to focus during group time. This rug will help define a space at the front of the classroom where my students will sit for their morning meetings and for whole group instruction. The circles on this area rug will help equally distance each student when they come to sit on the carpet. The rug also helps with smooth transitions so that all students are quickly where they need to be and ready to learn. It is also important for students to have their own area so that they are free to relax, listen and participate. Space, distance and area will enhance whole group time on the floor.
