The materials I am requesting for my students are going to be used to create individual math toolboxes to help students learn first through concrete manipulation that will later lead to more abstract critical thinking. Now, you may be asking yourself, "How are pencil boxes and pencil pouches going to help students learn math?" and I am so glad you asked! My school district has provided the appropriate math manipulatives for students to use throughout the year. The only thing is that they are a whole class set. To save precious time handing out tools for math, I figured it would be easier if students had access to their very OWN toolbox. That way, students are able to access their supplies whenever they need them without asking! I love it when students take control of their learning! These math toolboxes will help foster that in my classroom. Will you help be the one that makes a difference for my 19 precious mathematicians?
