LEGOs are a great tool used for teaching many different concepts. Students can use them to build cars for forces and motion. They could use them to build models of the solar system or different animal habitats or biomes. LEGOs can also be used to model the components that go into creating certain items, can do with rock types with the minerals found in each. LEGOs can be used to help teach math concepts with building the numbers for number recognition, skip counting by twos, place value with tens and ones, building shapes, coordinate planes, area and perimeter, and fraction equivalents. Students could also use them to build and act out word problems to help understand multi-step word problems. LEGOs would provide a wonderful way to engage students in my STEAM classroom in all these concepts and make hands-on learning fun!
