Picture this: on a sleepy Monday morning, students walk into class and set their things down by their desks. They head over to the library bookshelf and pick out a new book. The video game fanatic's eyes catch on seeing "Semiprofesional Parte 1 and 2," and they get excited thinking about what kind of gamer this story will share about. Another student's eyes catch on "Quince." Their Quinceañera is approaching and they can't wait to see how the main character's turns out. Yet another student settles on " El Rey Arthur" and "Juliana." They love animals and can't wait to read their stories. By donating to this project, my students will have the opportunity to practice the language while learning from characters whose lives aren't that different than theirs. Students won't mind sleepy Monday mornings if it means they get to dive back into a good book. It might even make those mornings more engaging and invigorating for them!
