As students enter my 2nd grade classroom each day, they will have the opportunity to choose a soft start item to help them ease into their day. Items like Brain Blox or IQ Builders allow students to socialize with their peers while waking up their brains and being creative. The Picasso Tiles, Star Flex, Gears are all great tools for building and making fun creations. I believe this type of start to students day will excite students and make them eager to get to school. Providing opportunities for creativity and play with their peers allows students to feel safe, accepted and ready to learn. I feel it will help set the stage for a positive rest of their school day.
