During our ELA time, my students can choose a small group called Read to Self. The students grab their book box, which is filled with books that are at their level, and read! The books are self-selected so the kids are motivated to read about topics of their choice. We practice for weeks to build our stamina to be able to read quietly for 15-20 min. Students can choose a place in the classroom to sit and I thought this cozy carpet would be one of their favorite spots. We don’t have a classroom carpet at the moment, but I know they’d love to stretch out on it and get lost in a good book.
