The behavior system we use focuses on rewards for positive behaviors in and out of the classroom. When students exhibit one or more of our learner profiles (Open-mindedness, Inquiry, Knowledgeable, Thinker, Caring, Balanced, Reflective, Risk Taker, Communicator, and Principled) any staff member can reward them with points. Students get to choose how to spend their points according to what is available in our rewards store. Our students do not have gaming systems in their homes. If we had gaming systems in our library, students could use their points to buy gaming time. This will motivate students, who are not usually motivated by knickknacks and school supplies, to participate in class, volunteer to help others, and be more open-minded so they can use their point to play on a gaming system.
