Students with autism thrive when they are able to see clear pictures that tell them what is coming next. Many students in my classroom are either non-verbal or struggle to use language to share their wants and needs. These students use something called a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) book where they exchange pictures to receive what they want/need. This allows for students to communicate without using verbal language and eliminates frustration in students that struggle with verbal language. Visuals are the foundation of our classroom. We use visual schedules for many components of our day, including our full-day visual schedule, opening group schedule, behavior supports, play schedules, and more. For the past 6 years, I have either printed pictures in B&W or printed them at Staples. This is not ideal for my students, and I would like to have the option to print in color whenever I need in little time.
