Each day I began with a read aloud of "The Silver Arrow" to my fourth grade students. They love this book and waited in anticipation for me to read the next chapter. Many important fourth grade reading skills were taught through this book: text features, author's purpose, characterization, making predictions, main idea and details, etc. In addition to providing a way for the students to continue developing important reading skills, it will continue to instill a lifelong love of reading, not only in the already avid readers, but also in the most reluctant readers. Unfortunately, due to ongoing and worsening health issues, I recently had to submit my resignation. Please help me provide each of the fourth grade students will their own copies of "The Silver Arrow" as my parting gift to them! This will show my love and care for them as I must say good-bye. I know that they will treasure their own copies.
