Students will be practicing letter writing and making seniors smile by writing a note or a card to brighten their day. My Class wrote letters to the seniors at American Fork Senior center. My Dad who goes there for lunch each day delivered the letters once a month and the seniors were so excited to get a card or note that they all wanted to write back. My dad said, it made them feel special and maybe the only letter or card they had received in a long time. This project also helps school aged students to write letters and address envelopes, something we don't do today very often. We will need gel pens and cards to make this project a success. It only takes a kind word to change someone's day. Kindness is what we need in the world right now and connecting with others through a note or letter is a great way to build a community.
