Many of my students struggle to get through the day for many reasons, especially students, who during lunch, are too anxious for the cafeteria, too ashamed to get free lunch, or just need a mental break. All of these students are welcome to come to my room, grab a snack, and do whatever they need to get through. They are welcome in at any time to ask for food, supplies, anything they may need. I try and have a variety of food and sanitary supplies (like toothpaste, deodorant, etc) for whatever the student needs. If a student's basic needs aren't being met, they certainly cannot learn to the best of their abilities.
