The requested items will help students receive things they would normally make a trip to the school nurse for in the classroom. Due to the pandemic, visits to the school nurse will be limited because it must serve as an assessment and holding area for students and staff suspected of exposure to Covid-19. Since our priority is safety, the "Grow Through Wellness Kits" would still provide some of the basic clinic needs while decreasing non-emergent trips to the clinic. Many students in kindergarten have an occasional bathroom accident and don't have extra clothing to leave at school. It would be helpful to have a set of underwear and pants to change into when this occurs along with disposable cloths to clean themselves. You'd be surprised by how much comfort an ice pack provides for a child with a minor scratch, disposable ice packs would allow for this to happen quickly with very few interruptions and prep. Often times teachers would send students to the clinic carrying heavy trash cans as they are actively vomiting; the emesis bags would help keep things contained. Lastly, some items were requested to assist teachers in keeping things clean during incidents, such as Clorox wipes and band-aids. Finally, the goggles were requested for the teachers that may need eye protection in situations where they are unable to distance themselves or the student may not be able to mask. Any donations made to this project would be greatly appreciated especially due to the vulnerability of our population (the majority of our students aren't old enough to be vaccinated) safety is a top priority!
