This project will provide a class set of the novel “One Crazy Summer.” It is an academically challenging and relatable text that will engage students in literacy standards while providing the foundation for conversations about racism and activism. Last year, my fourth grade students loved reading this book, making it one of the richest learning experiences we had together. As a supporting material, Flocabulary will engage students in learning essential foundational skills to support their reading of complex texts. In addition, Flocabulary provides current event videos that can connect the learning in the classroom to what is happening in the world.
