In our class, play-based learning is an important part of my student's academic development and social-emotional development. Through Play-Based learning, students learn to cooperate, communicate, and engage with their peers to build a strong classroom community and learning environment. During a normal school year, students would have the ability to play together and learn from each other. This school year looks a lot different for my students. To adhere to the CDC guidelines for socials distancing students are not allowed to share materials or play with one another in a centers space. “Play is the foundation of learning, creativity, self-expression, and constructive problem-solving. It’s how children wrestle with life to make it meaningful.” -Susan Linn. This project provides my students with individualized Crayola markers to complete their daily play plans. The Play-doh will provide an opportunity for each student to have their own individualized play-doh that can be used throughout the day in centers and in small group sessions to foster fine motor skills, counting, and creativity. Additionally, the play-doh tools that can be used with the play-doh will provide an opportunity to enhance the play and engagement in our literacy and art centers. The spot markers will provide students with a space they can call their own to stand, sit, dance, and exercise safely while social distancing. Thank you for helping my students have a safe and successful school year.
