Having boomwhackers and African drums will expose younger and older students to instruments and music that are reflective of their heritage, providing pride and confidence in themselves. We will play and compose songs and rhythms with the boomwhackers and drums, while reading and listening to music. The Instruments will help students to focus and strengthen their listening, literacy, cooperative, and social-emotional skills while building a stronger sense of community and self worth. Students will play and create music together and individually. The Instruments will expand and ignite their creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and musicianship.
