This is my first year teaching and when I call my kindergartners to join me for whole group they don't have an area designated for them; if you know kindergartners, you know that they need structure and their very own spot. A classroom rug would help tremendously with this. I could use it assign a spot for each student so that they stay safe and don't intrude on each others spaces, and are therefore better able to focus. I will also use it to reinforce concepts of print as well as their name by labeling spots on the carpet.
