I have no doubt that these materials will foster my students social and emotional wellbeing. As a practicing clinician, it is vital that students feels safe and welcomed by a calming environment. There is research that show that constantly seeing and being around plants helps individuals feel more calm and relaxed. My hope is that The Plant Canvases and the Faux plant allow my students to feel this way. Both sets of curtains will help the greenery in the room to pop out providing a calmer environment, allowing students to communicate what their needs are. My plan is to also gather my own smaller plants to place on the hexagon floating shelf behind the student chair that was also requested. Students who have experienced substantial trauma have a very challenging time trusting people. Especially adults. They often lack the appropriate supportive atmosphere and by creating that, my hope is that my students continue to show up where they feel acknowledged and heard. If my office can be that safe place for them, then we've already taken the first step in getting them the support they need. I gather several documents and books to support referrals for outside resources and is why the desk organizers would be great to have
