Each year, my students create incredible and memorable writing pieces emphasizing many different genres of writing. Each composition is amazing if you look at them individually, but when a student gets a chance to see all of their work from the entire year in one place, the experience is special beyond measure, and makes a huge impact. In my class each year, I put together a writing portfolio for each of my students that is given to them at the end of the school year. This portfolio showcases all of the incredible published final drafts of the writing work that they have produced over the course of the year. The portfolio is especially meaningful because it represents all of their writing progress from the beginning to the end of the year. When students receive these in June, they are often blown away by their growth as authors and they take much pride in the wonderful compositions they have created. This is also something that students can share with their loved ones in the present, as well as future loved ones. I sincerely thank you in advance for helping to bring this special gift to my students that they can enjoy, be proud of, and reflect on for the rest of their lives.
