Please help me create a positive and calm environment in my brand new classroom this school year. I have the amazing privilege of working as a behavioral specialist. This is a brand new position and I'm super excited to use my background and knowledge to help foster a positive environment for all the students. I will be implementing proactive support strategies focused on reducing problem behaviors and that allow individuals to be as independent and successful as possible. A few strategies I plan to use include flexible seating, a calming corner, fidget items, sensory items, social interactions, PBS, the school store, providing more choices, and reorganizing the physical space, etc. By using these strategies, I will be able to work with students to reduce their behavioral outbursts and foster success within the classroom. These students will take the knowledge and strategies taught and use them in their daily lives to become independent and successful adults.
