In our class our students will study the history and culture of pottery throughout civilization, then put their own spin on what they learn by creating ceramic vessels and sculptures both functional and expressive with the requested wheel. It is my hope that in addition to what we do in the classroom, we can find enough resources to start an after school program to allow students to more focused time to create and explore. Our students need a break from computer and online learning. Pottery is an encompassing experience that works the mind, body, and spirit; for some it is nearly a magical experience. In addition, it is a skill that our students can hone to use as a career in their own community.
