Kindergarten classrooms can vary, but one thing they all need, no matter what, is a library that captures students’ attention and encourages them to pick up a book. When I walked into my first classroom, I realized I was missing this crucial component to my class layout. This project will help me support students’ language and literacy development, by allowing me to set up a warm library in my classroom. The comfy couch will encourage students to come sit down in the library, and also help me maintain COVID-19 safety by being a wipeable surface. The book display will allow me to showcase books that will capture students’ attention. These two items will help me create a literacy rich environment, that will motivate students to explore books and get them in the habit of loving reading.
