This is my 23rd year in education but my first as a full-time elementary librarian. There has not been a full-time librarian in over 10 years and there are a lot of resources and materials that need some updating. I feel that the library is the heartbeat of any campus, from elementary to college. It is where students do research, pleasure read, collaborate, and hopefully where many students get the spark to become life-long readers and learners. By providing new resources and materials, I hope there's a spark happening here. My goal, although a lofty one, is to have every student at our elementary school reading at their grade level or above by May 2022. The extra books and materials are imperative to reach this goal and by changing the decor, this hopefully will become a more conducive learning environment.
