Harsh fluorescent lighting is known to adversely affect a child's attention, behavior and learning capability in the educational environment. They are also known to cause anxiety, headaches, hyperactivity and eye strain. I am requesting funding to provide my classroom with alternate lighting. Lighting that improves the efficiency of the learning environment. For students with special processing needs or a history of migraines these alternate lighting options make a world of difference. When students can focus better in the classroom, their success in turn increases. The whole demeanor in the classroom becomes calmer. Students are more focused and in turn productivity increases. Through the generosity of Donors Choose, I am hoping to positively impact the learning environment for those who are sensitive to the bright, flickering nature of florescent lighting. I am requesting a doorbell to be used as a subtle signal to transition or redirect as well as a pencil sharpener that needs no further explanation. With your partnership we can help all students be successful.
